The Basic Needs Giving Partnership is excited to award $1.25 million in new grants to 42 organizations across Northeast Wisconsin!

Grantees are working to make an impact in three priority areas — early care and education (birth to five), housing access, mental health, and substance use. They reflect organizations serving the rural, urban, and suburban areas of our region by providing critical direct services as well as organizations working to change the policies and practices that hold poverty in place. For this grant cycle, awards are focused on general operating support, allowing nonprofits to direct resources where they are most needed.

Earlier this year, we transitioned the Partnership to a single regional organization to centralize and coordinate our activities, including grantmaking. This grant cycle marks our first as the evolved Basic Needs Giving Partnership. In addition, $2.46 million in previously committed multi-year grant awards is being distributed this year through partnerships with our local community foundations, making for a total of $3.71 million supporting organizations across our 10-county region.

The Partnership’s grantmaking is supported by funds raised from the U.S. Venture Open. We celebrate the recent success of the 2023 U.S. Venture Open that raised $4.82 million with 100% of every dollar invested back into the region to end poverty. Details on our next grant cycle will be announced in early 2024.

We are deeply grateful for the impactful work that each of you and your organizations do, and we look forward to continuing to work together to create thriving, equitable communities across Northeast Wisconsin.
